The UTC
sharing experiences in the International
Jean Monnet Schools
For several years now, the Ukrainian Technology Company (UTC) has been actively participating in the Jean Monnet International School ‘Effective Environmental Management for Ukraine’s European Future’. This School is organised by the National University of Food Technologies as part of the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme projects ‘The EU’s Renewable Energy Strategy as a Roadmap for Ukraine’ and ‘Effective Waste Management in the EU – The Best Choice for Ukraine’.
On 21 March this year, Yevhen Lukashevych, head of PJSC ‘Ukrainian Technology Company’ and a member of the Jean Monnet project team, gave a presentation on the topic: ‘The potential for the development of technologies for the deep processing of agricultural raw materials and organic waste in Ukraine’.
In his report, he noted that Ukraine has great potential for processing agricultural raw materials and waste. At present, we utilise only 20 per cent of this resource, whilst the US processes 80 per cent. The most promising area for raw material processing is biogas, from which SAF (synthetic aviation fuel) can be produced.
Yevhen Lukashevych emphasised that the construction of dozens of energy-efficient and waste-free bioenergy clusters in Ukraine could provide a boost for:
- the development of exports of finished products;
- addressing the issue of surplus agricultural raw materials;
- restoring soil fertility.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the participants to gain practical experience in the field of technology and to deepen their knowledge.
